The Ga East Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Elizabeth Kaakie Mann, and the Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya Constituency, Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo, have jointly commissioned a new and fully furnished 6-Unit Classroom Block for the Kwabenya-Atomic M/A Cluster of Basic Schools at a ceremony on Wednesday, 22nd November, 2023, at Atomic, Kwabenya.
The two (2)-storey, six unit classroom block project with library and Staff Common Room was funded through the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) - Responsiveness Factor Grant IV and V.
The phases into two, the ground floor building constructed by S. S Global Limited and completed within eight months, and the first floor by Empire CD Limited completed within seven months.
Addressing the gathering, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Elizabeth Kaakie Mann, underscored the significance of the project, noting that it formed part of educational infrastructure improvement initiative of the Assembly.
She urged the Education Directorate and the School authorities to observe culture of maintenance to ensure the facility lasts and serves its purpose for the current children and the future.
Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo, Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya Constituency, expressed delight at the construction of the school block and commended the Assembly for the initiative.
She further highlighted the important role school infrastructure help in advancing the Free SHS Education Policy and provision of quality education in general and pledged to continue to support in the provision of more infrastructure in the Constituency.
The Municipal Director of Education (MDE), Mr. Eric Sey, thanked the Assembly for the constant support given his outfit and gave assurance that they will monitor its use to ensure the children and teachers maximize the benefits of the facility to facilitate the improvement in teaching and learning in the Municipality.
