GA EAST MCE DONATES GHC 3,000 TO HELP FIX DELAPIDATED DOOTBRIDGE AT AGBOGBA
The Ga East Municipal Assembly (GEMA) has organized a two-day workshop to train some selected senior staff on report and minute writing and financial regulation and policies for Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs).
Opening the workshop, the Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD), Mr. Emmanuel Kwame Kungi, underscored the need for the officers to take advantage of such opportunity to learn and equip themselves with requisite knowledge to enhance their work and service delivery.
"Knowledge is power, as they say. If you don't have information, you're nobody. So if the government says you need knowledge and say no then it means you don't want power and power is everything, knowledge is everything".
"If you don't know something, there's no shyness in asking. Today, they're here to teach us certain things, when you take them serious and ask questions seriously, the knowledge they are going to impart onto you becomes yours forever", he further intimated.
Day one, Thursday, 15th December, of the training focused on report and minute writing with selected senior officers participating.
They were taking through steps involved in organizing Assembly Meetings and other activities and the minutes taking and reporting procedures respectively using practical group work scenarios to aid better and easy understanding.
Day two, Friday, 16th December, featured officers mainly from the Finance, Budget, Audit, Procurement, and Human Resource Departments and Units, who were schooled on the financial regulation and policies for MMDAs.
The participants were taught on various reforms in financial administration, rationale and objectives for the introduction of the Public Financial Management Act, 2016 (Act 921), Programme-Based Budgeting (PBB), fiscal decentralization, among others.
The Human Resource Manager, Ms. Marianne Aba Abraham, expressed gratitude to Management for enabling them to organize the training workshop and thanked the participants for seeing the importance of the training and attending, charging them to let the knowledge acquired reflect in their daily work.
The facilitation was provided Brimstone Consulting Services.
