HON. ELIZABETH KAAKIE MANN CONFIRMED, WITH A 100 PERCENT VOTES, AS THE NEW MCE FOR GA EAST MUNICIPAL ASSEMBLY

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's nominee for Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Ga East Municipal Assembly (GEMA), Madam Elizabeth Kaakie Mann, has been endorsed by the General Assembly.
At a Special Meeting of the Assembly held to confirm the nominee, all 15 Assembly Members voted "yes" to endorse her.
She has become the second (2nd) female and fourth (4th) MCE since the creation of the Assembly in 2004, succeeding Hon. Janet Tulasi Mensah who was in attendance to lend her support.
The Municipal Director of the Electoral Commission, Mrs. Janet Koranteng, within 15 minutes, from 16:40 GMT, conducted and supervised the process, which many have described as the most peaceful of all the confirmation exerices so far, and declared Madam Elizabeth Kaakie Mann as the new MCE for Ga East.
Hon. Elizabeth Kaakie Mann, in her accepance address was grateful to the President for the opportunity given her to serve.
"It is a rare privilege and indeed a humbling experience to be called upon by the President of our Great Nation, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo to serve this government in any capacity, and today, for me to have this singular honour to be called to represent him at the Ga East Municipal Assembly is a monumental honour and it is one that I promise to hold in high esteem", Hon. Kaakie Mann acknowledged.
She also thanked the Honourable Assembly Members for demonstrating their resolve to work with her to advance the development of the Municipality through their emphatic, 100 percent "yes" votes to endorse her nomination.
"I deeply appreciate the vote of confidence you have reposed in me today to lead the Ga East Municipal Assembly. I appreciate the very generous expressions of support and confidence and it is my hope that this will be the beginning of a very fruitful relationship as we work together to establish the Ga East Municipal Assembly as a force to reckoned with", she said.
She further expressed gratitude to the Member of Parliament (MP) for Dome-Kwabenya Constituency and Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection (MGCSP), Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo, for throwing her support behind her and the outgoing MCE, Hon. Janet Tulasi Mensah, for blazing the trail and showing the capabilities of women to occupy the position and deliver.
"Throughout her tenure as Member of Parliament, she has championed efforts towards empowering the women of our constituency which culminated in Hon. Janet Tulasi Mensah being named as the first female Chief Executive of Ga East and now myself as Municipal Chief Executive in the second term of the New Patriotic Party Government", the MCE-elect noted.
"Ga East is indeed truly the most gender positive municipality in the country with a female MP, MCE, Coordinating Director and many other noble women leading various departments and units of the Assembly and it is indeed no surprise that our MP is the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection as she is already advancing the cause for gender parity at the constituency level", she further stated.
Hon. Elizabeth Kaakie Mann indicated her commitment to deliver on the mandate given her to ensure the Municipality develops to the desirable status.
"Today, I have been confirmed as the 4th MCE for Ga East and, Mr President, I note with pride how throughout the first four years in office, you toiled day and night to rebuild our nation and have set us back on to the path of development. I promise to abide by this same ethos and instill a sense of commitment and servitude to the people throughout my time in office to advance your development agenda in the Municipality", she stated.
"I promise not to let your government and our great New Patriotic Party down as we all play an important role in ensuring we “Break The Eight” come 2024", she added
She called on all stakeholders, especially the traditional and religious leaders and the constituents to rally behind her and help bring speady development to the people.
The Greater Accra Regional Secretary of the NPP, Hon. Odarlai Parker, charged the MCE to desist from running the office on partisan basis but bring everyone on board to enable her achieve success.
He thanked the outgoing MCE, Hon. Janet Tulasi Mensah, for her crucial role in facilitating the 100 percent endorsement and showing maturity in that direction.
The Presiding Member (PM), Hon. Jesse Nii Noi Anum, congratulated Hon. Elizabeth Kaakie Mann for successfully going through the confirmation to become the second female to occupy the position in the history of the Assembly.
He encouraged her to build stronger relationship with the Assembly Members, Staff of the Assembly and the Party in the Constituency towards achieving the overall goal of developing the Municipality.
The Hon. PM also acknowledged the immense contribution of the outgoing MCE, Hon. Janet Tulasi Mensah, in executing the "Enviable Municipality" agenda which helped to raise the status of the Municipality in the country and beyond and charged the MCE-elect to emulate her and improve upon what she left behind.
In attendance was the Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD) Mrs Vera Akuffo-Mante, with traditional and religious leaders among the dignitaries who witnessed the Special Assembly Meeting.
