- Charges staff to be punctual and work extra hard.

The new Chief Director for the Greater Accra Regional Cordinating Council (GARCC), Mrs. Lilian Baeka, on Thursday, 10th August 2023, paid a working visit to the Ga East Municipal Assembly, Abokobi.

The visit formed part of her familiarization tour to all Assemblies in the Greater Accra Region since assuming office on 3rd July 2023.

She was welcomed by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Elizabeth Kaakie Mann, and the Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD), Mr. Nii-Amarh Ashitey.

A durbar was held where the Chief Director addressed and interacted with the Staff of the Assembly.

In her address, she spoke about lateness to work, preparing and submission of reports before deadline, among others.

On the issue of lateness to work, the Chief Director indicated that lateness has become a major problem in the Local Government Service, and it is one way or the other affecting the efficiency of work in the Assembly.

She advised that a clock-in device be installed to check attendance to sanction habitual latecomers.

She also spoke about the performance assessment of the Assemblies, saying that Staff should be equipped with the necessary resources to enable them to work effectively and efficiently to attain a good assessment result.

She urged the Hon. MCE and MCD to ensure that Staff should always submit their report before the due date.

“Lateness to work for me is not accepted”, she emphasized.

The Chief Director cautioned the Staff against the tendency to falsify reports and minutes for an activity they have not undertaken, noting that it is an offence and hence proper sanction would be taken against anyone found calpable.

The MCD, Mr. Nii-Amarh Ashitey, on behalf of the Hon. MCE assured the Chief Director that they will do their best to ensure lateness and punctuality, among other issues she raised would be checked to enhance productivity.

He indicated that the Management had already taken steps to fix the malfunctioning device and commended Hon. MCE for initiating an action to check lateness and punctuality.
