The Municipal Chief Executive(MCE) for the Ga East Municipal Assembly (GEMA), Hon. Elizabeth Kaakie Mann, has urged Muslims and Christians in the Municipality to live peacefully together to ensure the advancement of the development agenda of the Municipality.
The Hon. MCE made this call during a brief ceremony to present various food items to the leadership of the Muslim community to support this year's Ramadan at the forecourt of the Assembly on Monday, 3rd April, 2023.
The donation of the food items to the Muslim community was part of the annual gesture extended to support them during the Ramadan.
The items included 29 each of sacks of white sugar, bags of rice, 32 cartons of Milo, 45 cartons of Milk, and 25 boxes of tea bags.
Present at the brief ceremony were the leadership of the Muslim community, represented Imams and Zongo Chiefs, the Presiding Member (PM), Hon. Jesse Nii Noi Anum, Municipal Coordinating Director (MCD), Mr. Emmanuel Kungi, and some Heads of Departments and Units.
The MCE, Hon. Elizabeth Kaakie Mann, stated that there was the need for Muslims and Christians to live in harmony to advance the speedy development of the Municipality and nation at large.
“I know you will live peacefully and maintain that peace during this time of fast and also stop anyone from creating any form of disturbance”, she noted.
The President of the Ga East Imam' Council, Imam Abdullah Yayah Sadiq, and representative of the Ga East Zongo Chiefs' Council, Mallam Alhassan Galadimah, both thanked the Assembly and the Hon. MCE for the continuous support for them during Ramadan and other occasions.
They also promised to continue to live peacefully with all religious sects in the Municipality not only during Ramadan but all the time.
