The Ga East Council of Churches (GECC), has presented a citation to honour the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Ga East Municipal Assembly (GEMA), Hon. Janet Tulasi Mensah, for demonstration of exemplary leadership and selfless commitment and dedication to service in the municipality.
The Ga East Council of Churches (GECC), inaugurated on Saturday, 20th July, 2019, was formed to mobilize churches in the municipality and unite them for the enhancement of their spiritual and physical needs while partnering the Assembly to advance the development of the municipality.
The idea of the formation of the Council was conceived when the MCE met churches late last year as part of her stakeholder-engagements.
The Council, which currently has a membership of 31 churches, is actively involved in the activities of the Assembly and has submitted proposals to the MCE on how best they can collaborate to develop the municipality.
A four (4)-member delegation from the GECC on Monday, 16th September, 2019, paid a courtesy call on the MCE at her Office at Abokobi to express their gratitude to the MCE for championing the formation of the Council and providing the needed support for their operations.
The delegation, led by the President of the Council, Rev. Dr. Ahmed Kenneth, presented a citation to the MCE which recounted the instrumental role she played in the establishment of the GECC.
Presenting the citation, Rev. Dr. Ahmed Quarshie said the GECC is grateful for the vision of the MCE in getting it formed to promote religious unity and tolerance and prop them up for service towards the advancement of the churches and the development of the municipality.
"We congratulate you, Hon. Janet Tulasi Mensah, for your selfless commitment, support, encouragement and contributions which gave birth to the Ga East Council of Churches and the strong and hardworking qualities you dedicate in developing the Ga East Municipality and the Kingdom of God as well. The Council prays that God will grant the desires of your heart to His own Glory and wishes above all things that God will continually bless you and your family with peace, long life and good health for the vital role you administer in making the Ga East Council of Churches a success and becoming a blessing to the municipality", the President of the Council stated.
The MCE, Hon. Janet Tulasi Mensah, on her own behalf and the Assembly, thanked the the Council and urged them to collaborate with the Assembly in working to make it an enviable one.
I'm very much overwhelmed and appreciative for the honour accorded me. I know that our country contains the wealth we need, therefore it is expected of us to put in the maximum effort to acquire such wealth. I'm very grateful to you and I believe this will encourage me to do more", she acknowledged.
The Council submitted proposals which seek to support her and the Assembly to develop the municipality and, in this direction, assured the MCE that they had initiated moves to collect data on all Churches in the municipality to ensure the maximum support and cooperation from the Churches.
